Surviving 2020

Most of us were happy the moment 2019 came to an end, it was a complicated year and involved a lot of lessons and growth. 2020 was the year we committed to being better and do better and stop procrastinating. But ... COVID-19 stopped us in our tracks. Beyond the daily news of reported cases, recoveries and death updates per region, and beyond the news that Mother Earth is healing,... How are you? What are you feeling? How is your mind? It's Day 1 of the official 21 days lockdown in South Africa. For many individuals, this is a difficult time.

There are many lessons to be learned at this time however and here are some.

  • If you haven't already been super aware of hygiene, that has surely changed by now.

  • We are learning to listen to our bodies for symptoms of the virus and in doing so, in the stillness, we are learning to listen to our bodies completely.

  • Social Media is being used as a platform to bring people together, those that were anti-social media are now also aware of its positives.

  • Spending time with ourselves, without the hustle of the outside world, this is a first.

  • Feeding our bodies with good nutrition as a result of not wanting to catch the virus. Your body thanks you.

  • Time becomes a strange concept, some days it feels like the night will never come, other days you wish you had more hours as you enjoy the flow of the day.

  • Identifying good and bad habits, in yourself and those around you. Identify, accept them and then work towards change.

  • Compromise, in this time we've learned to be selfish as well as compromise. when everyone wasn't taking this situation seriously, I went to the botanical gardens and spend the day in the sun, breathing fresh air and having conversations with the earth.

  • Simple pleasures, we can no longer rely on things and people to make us happy. But rather discovering a new playlist, taking a warm shower, playing with your pets or having conversations with the people you live with that you wouldn't otherwise have.

Music is a vibration, Light is a vibration, thoughts, and words are vibrations too. Be kind to yourself and stay positive. If you could choose between having a good day and having a bad day, obviously you would choose the good day... so do it, Choose to have a Great day, you are in control of your Emotions, your Mind. And if you need someone to talk to, reach out. We are all in this together.

May my current situation teach me what I need to know with ease. May any anxiety or fear I hold melt into the sky. May any frustration shift to productivity, and any uncertainty fuel my growth. May Earth heal and our loved ones stay safe. May we all use this to unite together - @foreverconscious
